23. Archaeological predictive model (Expert Systems)
As part of the technical report preparation for the environmental evaluation a predictive model was used to identify areas of high probability for finding items of archaeological significance in the project area. This allowed field investigations to be limited to the high probability areas, saving time and cost in preparation of the environmental documentation. Input from each archaeological investigation is added to the model database so the accuracy of its findings can be improved over time.
