The following Microsoft PowerPoint® slides are provided to help practitioners compile an effective presentation that communicates the benefits and costs of their transit
project(s). The slides can be downloaded to a personal computer and easily customized for individual presentations; users can add or delete text and/or slides to suit their target audience.

 

   

A generic slide background template has been provided for these PowerPoint® slides; however, the user has the option of selecting from one of the many background templates provided with the Microsoft PowerPoint® software package. Additional transit-related photographic images and graphics to enhance these slides are available in the Photo Library and Clip Art Gallery on this CD ROM.

If you prefer to save the slides to your personal computer, simply right mouse click on the link, select "Save Target As", and enter your preferred directory location.


    The slides are organized by the major topics in the Guidebook and include:
    Overview - These slides offer general descriptions of the major transportation issues facing most communities today, including: growing congestion, sprawling development, changing attitudes towards transit, and increasing national transit use.
    Your Project -These slides can be used to describe your project features, location, goals and context within the existing transportation system and local community.
    Travel Benefits- Use these slides to discuss travel timesavings, congestion reduction, the "option value" of transit, and other cost savings (e.g., gas, parking).
    Environmental Benefits - These slides discuss issues related to air, water, and noise pollution from transportation.
    Transit Costs and Financial Leverage - These slides cover project capital and operating costs, and how local dollars can be used to leverage non-local funding.
    Land Use - These slides describe transit's impacts on land use, community development and development costs.
    Economic Development - Use these slides to discuss transit's impacts on property values, employment accessibility, and the employment, economic output, and income generation impacts of non-local funding
    Equity - These slides illustrate how transit can benefit many different user groups.
