1. Satellite Imagery (Multi-spectral and Hyper-spectral Imaging)

The first step in the planning process was describing existing conditions. Land cover information was needed to characterize the study area’s vegetation. Multi-spectral satellite imagery was used to obtain this data for the large study area. A semi-automated routine was developed to identify water areas, land cover types, and vegetation species from the imagery and create a GIS data layer representing this information.
