15. Visual simulation to facilitate public understanding (Simulation)Visual simulations were used to help the public understand how two planned highway facilities would look and operate once constructed. The first example shows a proposed interchange with fly-over ramps. The second shows the design of a two-lane road and the amount and locations of cut or fill along the route. Both examples are intended to allow the public to better understand the ultimate look and feel of the facility than by what is understood from an engineering drawing. This increased understanding should help interested people to provide more meaningful comments about changes that can improve the design of such facilities to serve the public. 15. Visual
