19. Public project web site (Document and Process Management)

As part of the outreach process to obtain feedback from the public on alternatives being considered, the DOT used a public website to provide progress updates, meeting announcements, newsletters, and a variety of project information. Users were able to submit comments and add their names to the mailing list by completing user-friendly on-line forms.

The project team also used an access-protected web site for project management. Activity and meeting schedules, meeting notes, draft and final work products, and contract documents were efficiently shared among agency staffs and consultants. Documents produced in a wide variety of software packages could be used by all parties whether or not the software was loaded on their computers. Document/product review was conducted on-line by tracking comments made by multiple reviewers.
